About
Nancy Cates
Owner, Cates Creative Services
I have been doing something creative all my life. As a child I drew pictures and wrote stories, then my grandmother taught me how to sew and I started making clothes and other things for myself. As an adult, these skills have evolved into something greater than just a hobby. I earned my B.S. in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. This education provided me with a strong foundation in the principles of design, art history, advertising methods and practices, web design and much more. I learned that being a graphic designer is more than just making pretty pictures. Those pictures must accomplish a goal, one that is determined by the clients needs.
My skills include using digital media (primarily Adobe products) as well as using traditional media such as paint, graphite and colored pencils, and a wide range of other creative materials. I use all of my skills to create the best solution for the project, and I enjoy learning to use new techniques and new technologies so that I can produce the highest quality of work that gives the client the best possible solution.
